According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Austin added 14,300 new jobs to the workforce in September making it the 6th fastest growing market in the nation. Washington topped the list at 34,000 jobs. The sad thing is most of the major metro areas lost jobs with Chicago topping the list at 66,000 jobs lost over the last year.
With the elections taking place this last week and the Federal Reserve’s decision to pour an additional 600 billion dollars into the US economy, it will be interesting to see if the unemployment rates will be affected.
I’ve said time and time again how grateful I am to live in Austin. Not only is it an amazingly beautiful city, it seems to be doing everything right:)
