There are three, count them three movie premiers debuting in Austin in the next four days.
Tomorrow night, Quentin Tarantino will be premiering “Inglourious Basterds” at the Ritz Alamo Drafthouse. He will be on hand to curate the first of three films of the Cinemapocalypse, an all night movie marathon. Not surprisingly, tickets sold out in 45 seconds. The real question is… will Brad Pitt be making a cameo appearance???
Sunday afternoon head over to the historic Paramount theater where Robert Rodriguez is debuting another one of his family-friendly movies filmed in Austin, “Shorts”. Don’t count on parking on Congress Ave. The entire block is being closed down for a carnival-themed event complete with games and rides. Fun for the whole family and as an added bonus, the premier is benefiting The Thoughtful House, a local non-profit dedicated to autism reasearch and community outreach.Hollywood in Austin concludes Tuesday night with the world premier of “Extract” again at the Paramount Theater.
Written and directed by Mike Judge, this comedy was loosely based on the Adam’s Extract business which used to be housed just outside of Austin. Jason Bateman is slated to walk the read carpet, but keep your eyes peeled for other potential celebrity sightings including Ben Affleck and Mila Kunis.
